Maisto 1970 Plymouth GTX

The Plymouth GTX might not have been one of the hottest muscle cars around but something about this model from Maisto scale 1:24 caught my eye. It looks very good in orange one with black stripes.

1970 Plymouth GTX

The Plymouth GTX was introduced as the Belvedere GTX in 1967 by the Plymouth division to be a "gentleman's" muscle car.
The 1970 GTX received a minor redesign (new grille and rear taillights) but sales still suffered as the car did not look much different from the Road Runner. Stylists made the lines smoother, and a "power bulge" hood was introduced, as well as non-functional rear brake air scoops.
The convertible model was dropped in 1970. The Air Grabber hood was brought back, but instead of having two narrow openings running length-wise as in 1969, it had one opening scoop located on the power bulge. The GTX was available with the standard 440 4 barrel, as well as the 440+6 barrel (three two barrel carburetors) and the 426 Hemi. The 440+6 could compete closely with the Hemi, up to highway speeds. In keeping with the GTX marketing strategy, the 1970 model included many standard features. The only other Plymouth luxury/performance model was the full-size Sport Fury GT, built on the C-Body platform.
The GT was added to the lineup in 1970. The GT received nowhere near the recognition of the GTX, even though they shared many performance features. The Sport Fury GT was the full-size member of The Rapid Transit System. The Sport Fury GT was often viewed as more of a mature gentleman's performance luxury car.

Bburago 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing Coupé

After I added the 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Touring to my collection I just had to have the coupe, a classic pair of one of the most beautiful cars ever made. Famously know as the Gullwing this must surely be one of the most beautiful and famous Mercedes of all time. This model, like my other 300 SL, is also made by Bburgo, scale 1:18, and finished in red. I would have preferred a red interior but the brown also looks good.

Norscot CAT 992G Loader

This big boy loader is an 992G from Norscot, scale 1:50. One of Norscot's older models it's not made anymore and are getting more difficult to buy and thus more pricer if you are lucky to find it.

Norscot CAT D11R Bulldozer

The big daddy of CAT bull dozers is the D11, a truly impressive machine. Norscot makes a couple of different D11's of which mine I think is the oldest. The newer ones all got real metal tracks, mine got plastic, which looks really nice. You even get it in silver finish.
The Caterpillar D11 is a large bulldozer, manufactured by Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria, Illinois, and mainly used in the mining industry. Primarily designed as a bulldozer, it also used for push-loading scrapers, and ripping rock overburden.
The D11R and D11R Carrydozer were introduced at the Las Vegas, Nevada at MINExpo International 1996. Both were 770 hp (570 kW) and that would be increased to 850 hp (630 kW) later in 1997. Other improvements made to the D11R were Fingertip Controls and Electronic Clutch and Brakes. The Finger Tip Controls (FTC) allowed the D11R to be steered with a single lever (joystick) on the left hand side. The D11R now weighed 230,935 lb (104,750 kg). The Carrydozer version has a special blade with a curvature that allowed 57 yards (52 m) to be pushed. The "Carrydozer" had the structure strengthened considerably for the extra weight and much bigger blade that it carried up front. Both D11Rs received a new Caterpillar 3508B EUI diesel engine with electronic controls at 915 gross hp. The Carrydozer versions weight is just over 120 tons at 248,600 pounds.According to Caterpillar by the year 2000 over 3,000 D11s had been produced at their plant in East Peoria.

Norscot CAT D8R Bulldozer

Many will consider the CAT D8 as the face of CAT Bulldozers and I tend to agree. One of the most popular and versatile bulldozers of all times and must have for a collection.

Norscot CAT 777 Mining water tanker

This is a very rare CAT 777, one without a load-bed but with a water tank on the back made my KLEIN. I've not see many of them around to buy. This was a gift from my wife for a birth date, long ago. Scale 1:50 from Norscot, something that I'll hold onto because of it's special meaning.

The Caterpillar 777 dump truck is a model of large dump trucks, typically used in open pit mining. The truck's capacity is 80 tonnes.

Joal Volvo FH12 Globetrotter XL with lowboy trailer

My other horse and lowbed combo is this very nice model from Joal. It's a 1:50 scale model of a red Volvo FH12. Very hard to get hold of Joal models here in Cape Town so I was really lucky to get my hands on it. It surely looks good with a load like a D8 on the back.

Norscot CAT 323D Excavator

Always nice to own a model that you can relate to personally. In my case I worked on a few sites where we had CAT 320's and 323's excavators. A very nice model indeed from Norscot.

Norscot Peterbilt 330 Service truck

This is one of a few truck models in my construction collection, a CAT dealership Peterbilt Service truck with working hoist. Very well priced for the level of detail and one of my favorites.

Norscot Kenworth W900 with lowboy trailer

This is one of my wow construction models, a Kenworth W900 with lowboy trailer from Norscot, scale 1:50. Ready to move the heaviest load this 26 wheeler looks good in blue with the chrome details. The detail is really good, from the CAT engine right to the wooden inlays on the lowbed.
